8020 Media owns and operates a portfolio of digital assets. Our primary portfolio consists of three content sites within the automotive industry: bmwtuning.co, tuningpro.co, and dieseliq.com. We provide high quality, informational content relating to performance modifications, engine tuning, general repair and maintenance, and DIY related content.
Our first site was founded in 2017 and we have been growing our portfolio since then. We are a small company but are looking to accelerate our growth by adding multiple members to our team in 2022. Location
This job is fully remote but you must be a United States citizen and be considered a full-time resident. We are headquartered in Aurora, Colorado but you may be located anywhere in the United States with the exception of California and New York.
Freelance to Full-Time Program
For content writer applicants who don’t have any previous writing experience we offer a freelance to full-time program. This is a 6-month program in which you will be a freelance/contract writer for us and get paid on a per article basis.
After the 6-month period you are eligible to receive a full-time content writing position where you will receive a $50,000 salary plus health, vision, and dental insurance, discretionary year end bonuses and raises, and a 401(k) with a 3% match.
Responsibilities
As a freelance writer, your primary responsibility will be generating high-quality, in-depth, and well researched automotive articles. During the freelance to full-time program we will supply you with the content ideas but will also teach you how to perform keyword research and generate your own content ideas.
- Producing 15-20+ high quality, well researched articles per month
- Average article length should be 1,500-2,000+ words depending on the topic
Qualifications
- No previous content writing experience required
- Strong written communication skills and grammar
- Knowledge of keyword research and writing for SEO (ideal but not required)
- Experience with WordPress and Ahrefs (ideal but not required)
- Technical automotive knowledge including understanding of how an engine works and sufficient performance and tuning related knowledge
- Ability to work self-sufficiently in a virtual environment with little oversight
- Bachelors degree (strongly preferred but not required)
We are willing to teach candidates the more technical requirements of the job such as writing for SEO and performing keyword research to generate content ideas. However, candidates must have very strong grammar and writing skills and have at least some decent technical automotive knowledge.
Work Hours & Flexibility
We are a fully remote company and value flexibility. As both a freelancer and full-time writer you have the flexibility to work whenever you want and wherever you want, so long as you meet your monthly post requirements.
As part of the freelance program you will have flexibility to choose how many articles you want to create per month, although we do request a minimum of 15 posts per month. Full-time writers have a goal of 20-22 per month.
We understand it takes some time to get the hang of writing long, well-researched and technical content. We will be more flexible in the earlier months with respect to post quotas as you get the hang of writing.
Compensation
Compensation during the freelance to full-time program will be on a per article basis dependent upon the number of words written per article. Therefore, your total compensation will depend on the number of articles you produce per month.
- $8-$10 per 100 words
Payments will be made every two weeks. You will be paid as a contractor meaning no taxes will be withheld from your payments. Paying taxes will be your responsibility and you will receive a 1099 tax form at the end of the year.
